Christmas Dreams

I am not the most eager guest when it comes to the ward Christmas party. So as an incentive to go, I sign up to bring something. This year, my contribution was a breakfast casserole. I don't eat breakfast casserole (eggs are gross) so I found a recipe and hoped for the best. It's hard to go wrong with Our Best Bites.
I prepared it the night before, wrapped it tight in foil and set the alarm so I could wake up early enough to begin the hour cooking process. All went according to plan: 6:30 am, preheat the oven. Listen for ding and put casserole in the oven. I swear that's just what I did. Except that by 7:30 I was wondering why I couldn't smell the food cooking. The oven was on and the casserole was on the counter beside it. What? I remember hearing the ding, getting up from the couch and putting it in the oven. Or did I dream that? Sometimes my dreams are that realistic. I couldn't show up without the food but the party started at 8:00. Somehow, I managed to get the thing cooked so that we were only 15 minutes late. I am really glad we went. It was an impressive party.
This picture doesn't do it justice. The decorations were adorable. The stage was set up with a Santa picture scene and a Grinch scene (both were available for photo ops.) Our bishop quoted from How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and encouraged us all to increase our heart size this year and serve more. It was a really great morning, in spite of the terrible start.
