Ladies Trip-- London

Of course when Melissa suggested we come visit her home outside of London, I was all over it. I love London! I wasn't sure we would actually pull it off, but on Wednesday morning two of my high school friends and I boarded flights from various cities en-route to Gatwick airport--London, England.  I was fortunate to meet up with Rilie in North Carolina for the final almost 9 hour flight.

We met up with Liz and Missy at the airport and hit the ground running--who needs sleep? Our first stop: Chartwell, you know, Winston Churchill's estate. It was an interesting place to visit. He bought the property for hardly any money. I want to say 17 pounds, but that's just what I want to say. I could be 7 or 10 or maybe even 5. I should write these things down.

Not sure why Liz is so perplexed. The flowers are pretty. The entire gardens were beautiful and just what you'd expect to see in England.
Did you know Winston Churchill was a painter? Me neither. This was his painting space, the door to it, anyway.
Once we thoroughly explored Winston's place, we stopped for a bit of tea and some scones. How British of us.

Also nearby in Kent is Knole Park. We walked this little path across the  countryside and came across these deer. Of course we did, because that is just what should happen when walking the British countryside.

Of course the deer were friendly.
We climbed a hill and what did we see? A castle. Of course. We are in England.

This isn't actually called a castle, it's referred to as Knole House and has been around since the 1400s. The word is that this was a hunting spot for Henry VIII. Unfortunately, my pictures don't show the house very well--blame it on the jet lag.

We like to take pictures by gates.
Could this day be any more perfect?
