May- A Summary

I am a little behind so the plan is to get all caught up and take less than 30 minutes to do it.  This is what happened in May:

Ben was Mark Twain. I thought when we moved from Harvest Hills I could  avoid the 3rd grade Wax Museum assignment that I hated so much.  But it caught up with us in 4th grade. Ben got to pick from a list of famous Nevadans  and then wrote a report and dressed up like him for the bit of required performance art. Here they have a little button you pretend to push and then the student talks about their famous person.
A few side-notes: 1) I do not associate Mark Twain with Nevada, but apparently he did some stuff here. I still don't know exactly what he did. Ask Ben, he should know. 2) We are related to Mark Twain--distantly. We are also distant relatives to Walt Disney and Shakespeare.

Now that I think about it, May might go down as our artsy-est month of the year. First wax museums, then a performance of Lamb of God by a local Mormon Youth Choir (including Sam). The concert was held at the newly built, and very beautiful Smith Center. It was a really great way to spend a Sunday evening.
Most of the McGarry girls came to Vegas to party it up for my Mom's 60th birthday. Ashlee had a broken foot so we got to push our littlest sister around in a wheelchair.
I kicked my boys out. They were supposed to go to the Fathers & Son's Campout--and I think we all know how that turned out....
We NEVER get to do this and it was so much fun to hang out.
We went to the amazing show, Le Reve at the Wynn Casino.

Matt & I spent a lot of time at the Cosmopolitian Pool-sometimes with and sometimes without water-this month. If the weather is good (and that has yet to happen for me) it is a great place to see live music. We saw the Shins (technically this happened in April) while it was pouring rain,
then we saw Dr. Dog during a crazy wind storm
and finally Young the Giant when it was a little on the cold side (it was in the 60s, but I was wearing a sweater & a coat). Young the Giant was my favorite except for the super annoying girls standing behind and beside me. I do not have a high tolerance for obnoxious laughing.

The last major event of the month was the Pinewood Derby. Although the cars weren't winners the boys had a good time. Zack is already making plans for how he can make a faster car next year, but this year he was happy with his Bugatti design.

Ben was happy with having the "wedgiest" car of them all.
And how cute are these little car awards that all the scouts got for participating?
